Bakersfield's Premier Dance Company: Our mission is to give each student a wonderful experience within dance.

Penché Dance Academy stands for giving each student a wonderful experience within dance. We offer a safe environment where each student can grow and become an incredible dancer. At our new location you find large fully air conditioned dance space with a ton of natural light which gives the best energy throughout! We also provide a parent viewing area. Our studio and talented staff offers dance for the ages 2 - adult. Your dancer will have several opportunities to showcase what they have learned throughout the season. Some of our favorites being the "Teddy Bear Toss" Condors Game, our annual Christmas Recital and last but not least our Summer Recital each June!  We accept new students year round. It is never too late to start dance, come and try any of our classes for FREE!

Ballet:

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

Jazz:

Jazz dance is an exploration of style and presentation. Classes emphasize musicality and body alignment, conditioning, stretch and strengthening, rhythm and stylization as well as fun and innovative choreography. 

Lyrical / Contemporary:

Lyrical is a combination of ballet and jazz that challenges dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. It includes intricate, technical, and naturalistic moves. (For teen/adult dancers)


Contemporary combines ballet and modern techniques with musical and emotional expression with a strong focus on modern techniques (contractions and release, off-center balances and suspension) as well as musicality and self expression.

Tap:

Tap classes are a fun way to improve a dancer's skills in any genre. Tap classes will practice proper tap technique, balance, hone motor skills and musicality and will participate in a tap routine to perform at the end of the season.

HipHop:

Hip Hop incorporates a variety of old and new urban dance styles. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music. Hip hop dancing is very dynamic and helps the dancers improve flexibility develop body balance, and coordination.

Acro:

Acro (acrobatics/tumbling) is centered on fundamental acrobatic technique to increase flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, timing, body awareness, self-discipline, and confidence. Classes focus on proper hand placement and body alignment with emphasis on the muscles and flexibility required to perform proper technique.

Streatch / Turns & Jumps:

Flexibility classes focus strictly on full body stretch. Dancers will be able to use this class to enhance body flexibility and benefit them not only for dance, but for good and prolonging health. 

 

If a dancer is enrolled in a ballet or jazz class, a jumps class is recommended for quicker advancement. These classes will teach exercises and drills that will improve lower body strength to prepare a dancer for amazing jumps in their classes and routines. 

Master Classes

Master classes are for advanced level dancers and will be taught by a variety of Master Teachers. Master teachers are dance professionals and will teach a fast paced class and a routine combination. These classes are not available for monthly tuition and are pay per class and open to anyone, including non-members.

Mini Classes:

For dancers between the ages of 5-8 years old at a beginner level or 0-2 years of dance experience. 

Intro Classes:

For dancers between the ages of 3-4 years old.
